Disney “Traveling Around The World”- Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland – Part 9 – Dining and Shopping

Welcome back “World” travelers! I hope you made it into the winners circle back at the Tomorrowland Speedway. Before we leave Tomorrowland let’s take a look at some of the places to dine and shop.

Aunt Gravity’s Galactic Goodies – The future is here today at one of Tomorrowland’s favorite snack shops. Aunt Gravity’s is serving up ice cream floats, soft serve ice cream, smoothies, and sundaes. Auntie Gravity’s is located next to the Merchant of Venus store. Outdoor seating is available with a few café tables covered by umbrellas. Nice little treasure!

The Lunching Pad –  Built into the structure below Astro Orbiter and Tomorrowland Transit Authority, this little snack shop is quite the busy little spot. The Lunching Pad is a good spot for a quick meal, assuming you want a hot dog. They serve up three wonderful varieties, The James Coney Island, The Philly Cheese Steak, and the Taco hot dog. You may also want to try the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel. Yum! Chips and drinks are also available here.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe – This is what we consider the best counter service restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. Why? Variety and good food. The Starlight Cafe has one of the biggest, most diverse menus of all of the Disney World quick-service locations. It’s like three counter service restaurants in one. The Starlight Cafe has three different bays. One serves up a variety of chicken dishes, one has burgers and hot dogs, and the other has soup, salad, and sandwiches. Be sure to check out each menu before ordering.

Disney has done a great job with this location. The place is very large with lots of seating and serving is very efficient. There is also a large toppings bar that has all kinds of toppings, from sautéed mushrooms and onions, to tomatoes, relish, pickles, sauces, salad dressings and of course my favorite the hot, melted cheese. After you get your food and hit the toppings bar it’s time to grab a table. There are three options for seating at the Starlight Cafe.

Outdoor SeatingWith views of Cinderella Castle, the hub, and Main Street, the outdoor seating at the Starlight Cafe serves as a relaxing break from the park and as a great location for viewing Wishes.

Indoor Seating with Sonny Eclipse Entertainment In the front of the restaurant you’ll find a sunken dining room with an interesting focal point — the entertainer Sonny Eclipse. Sonny Eclipse is an audio-animatronic alien lounge singer who puts on a show while you eat.

Indoor Seating – There are other indoor, air-conditioned areas to sit where you’re not being serenaded by an alien. These might be slightly quieter and less crowded as they’re a bit more out-of-the-way from the ordering bays.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe definitely gets our vote as one of the best counter-service locations in the Magic Kingdom for variety, good food and atmosphere.

Mickey’s Star Traders, located in Tomorrowland, close to Stitch’s Great Escape, is an often overlooked shopping venue–which is too bad, really, since the shop offers some great browsing and even a few souvenirs you may not find at other Magic Kingdom shops.

Merchant of Venus – located at the exit of Stitch’s Great Escape this shop has a large collection of Stitch merchandise including hats, shirts, pins, toys and other collectables. There’s also a small collection of Tomorrowland merchandise.

So, if you need to take a little break from the hustle and bustle, Tomorrowland has some great options to sit back and grab a bite to eat, or to pick up some unique souvenirs to remember your amazing vacation! Be sure to check back with us as the next stop on our journey around the “World” takes us to the New Fantasyland….you won’t want to miss it!
