Katy Perry Announced As Judge For American Idol

Last week it was revealed that American Idol would be revived by ABC and come back for a new season in 2018. And this week ABC has announced the first celebrity to be part of the 2017-2018 comeback season as a judge is singer Katy Perry.

With an such an impressive and successful music career that continues to grow, Perry is sure to have plenty of wisdom and advice to share with apiring musicians.

It’s not clear who else will join Perry on the judging panel. Previous judges have included Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, and Steven Tyler.

American Idol has launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Adam Lambert, and Chris Daughtry, among many others. Between them, American Idol contestants have sold more than 60 million albums, resulting in more than 80 Platinum records and 95 Gold records.

There is currently no date set for the new season, but according to Robert Mills, head of reality TV at ABC, the network plans to hold auditions in Disney parks.
